Literature Text

Words like grenades,
pins pulled and thrown, shattering apart the scene
and bodies flying out the doors.
Families, like wars, leave no one untouched.
Borders and front lines redrawn over and over -
waltzing across a tramped down and bloody front lawn.
The generals and diplomats keep moving their lips,
syncing to the latest plan of inaction.
Apocalypse now, baby, and napalm colored
family tanks keep rolling down my street. Still so loud
'cause no one can keep their damned windows closed.
It's a war zone in neatly rowed boxes
and Ground Zero slipcovered in roses.
It was a Wednesday War. There were peace talks over pizza on Friday.
