Description
I enjoy collage, and when I first drew the concept for this piece, I knew I wanted something that had that chewy look but completely digital. The piece is lots and lots of layers - each shape, shading, and highlight. Most of the shapes were just preset forms reshaped to my liking. The waves and moon are brushes from my private stock. This piece took a couple days and many hours, so pardon the copyright mark. You know how it goes. 
Some details are lost with resizing. Sorry about that.
As to why a mermaid, I love the idea of dangerous beauty, and a woman who loves fierce as a wild thing and then killing that which returns the sentiment. Longing for something you'll eventually destroy.
The patterns and textures come from three places: Squidfingers, my own stock offered in my gallery, and old scans of paper and fabric scraps that I've had for ages.
The yarn for the hair comes from the sxc.hu site.
Any other odd pieces are my own private stock.

Very different. 
I'm not one to critique on collages since I've only done a couple before in my life, but there's a good concept behind it, and I love the style. The moon is my favourite. Haha.
